Bring Batam
Together In Style
no exaggeration to
say that the Barelang Bridge has changed Batam completely. Completed in 1997, it connected the islands of Batam, Rempang and Galang (hence "Ba-re-lang") and actually consisted of a chain of six bridges. However, the star of the show is the stunning Tengku Fisabilillah bridge, a wired creation that connects the island of Tonton with Batam elegantly. Night is a time to roam, because this bridge is a complement to the sunset in Southeast Asia.
Enjoy the
sunset at the Barelang Bridge
If in San Francisco you can enjoy the Golden Bridge Bridge, then in Batam there is the Barelang Bridge which is no less iconic. This bridge connects the islands of Batam, Rempang and Galang. The best moment to be on this bridge is before sunset in the western horizon, because the view offered is extraordinary.
Be respectful
and visit the temple
When else can you enjoy
the religious nuances, but with a slightly different touch. Many temples are
scattered throughout Batam and some of which have their own popularity are the
Old Pek Kong Temple and the Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Temple. By maintaining
respect for those who worship, you can enjoy the interior and exterior of the
temple which is full of ornaments and ornaments and carvings with their own
stories.
Historical
Monuments
In the 1970s, Batam became
a transit point for refugees fleeing after the Vietnam war. Galang is the
center of the island's refugee community, accommodating 250,000 people in total
and covering more than 80 hectares. Vietnamese boat people had come and gone,
but the camp remained, and the tour was an interesting experience. If you can
tolerate the monkeys that roam around the complex, you will find destroyed
houses built by refugees, as well as monuments to fallen heroes and a beautiful
church, which helps keep spirits high in the face of adversity.
